· MFC – Melamine Faced Chipboard

· Veneer – A real wood that is cut into a fine layer and stuck to either chipboard or MDF

· MDF – Medium density fibre board

· Wire Management – A series of channels, trunkings and portholes present in a desk to accommodate cables from their source to the their point of use. Some desks have jut portholes, some have portholes and leg channels and some have all these and additional trunking. Generally the more wire management you have, the more expensive this will be.

· Gas Lift – Part of chair that raises or lowers the user by a lever, normally at the under the seat

· Credenza – the name for a desk high storage unit in a board room

· Pedestal – the name for a set of drawers. Available as desk attached, mobile and desk high
